putting it in neutral causes the ACC to kick on... and what it does is stabilizes the idle by adding more air and fuel into the intake manifold. when you let off the gas, but leave it in gear, the injectors completely shut off, so in this case you can actually save more gas. if you have a techtom or know someone who does, you can watch the O2 sensor values... pushing in the clutch (putting it in neutral), the O2 sensors read 0.5-1.0v (indicating fuel in the mixture...) but if you just let off the gas, they read 0.00v (meaning no fuel whatsoever.. or just super-leaness) : And if theres a red light up ahead, I'll put it in neutral and coast a bit of the way, then put the brakes on when I get close. No use wasting gas, and more brakes when you can slow down coasting.
: : i always use brakes and engine to slow down, and then hit the clutch before a stall. i dont think either of them hurt the engine. thats what i always thought..
